.....and the Rag Mag, sometimes called the Rag Rag? I've not heard of it for years. Do the students still do this? If they do, it never gets any coverage now.

there's a universal bin in the Holy Land in Belfast - so the Romanians get there first. I am sure one of them got lucky last Christmas as my sister threw out a £40 voucher which she didn't know was in the card.

Most of the publicity will be Facebook and Twitter based I imagine.

I still have a Manchester and Salford Students Centenary Mag from 1987.

I loved Edinburgh University Rag Week when I was young (a million years ago!). I loved throwing my coins onto the passing floats. It was great to see all the students dressed up in fancy costumes and rattling their collecting tins. There was a great atmosphere. Don't know if it's still done now. Never hear about rag weeks now.

The money raised from selling the mags went to charity. The one I have has a letter in it from Prince Philip congratulating them for the annual collection to worthy causes.

Yes, i remember it well. It was a lot of fun seeing the students all dressed up in fancy dress selling their rag week magazines. They should bring it back. There are sooo many worthwhile charities they could be helping.
