Had a letter today, telling me that my recent bowel screening has come back negative. Its all over for another two years apparently !

ugh that reminds me mine is due any time now ,wouldn't want to be the one to check them all .glad yours came back clear .

I did mine a few months ago. Not the most elegant thing to have to do is it? I pity the poor "screener". Their parents must be soooo proud.

At my age, isn't 2 years between screening a tad long ?

If I develop bowel cancer in the next few weeks, I could be dead long before July 2017 comes along.

Mikey - it takes on the average 10 years for a small adenomatous polyp to grow into a cancer.

And you will have a flexible sigmoidoscopy to look forward to :)- it's being rolled out in England in Spring of next year.
Not sure about Wales though.

Hopefully not - the whimpering that is - not as uncomfortable as colonoscopy, but sedation can be given.

Hi Gness.
Ages 55 and over. As only the left side of the colon is seen, and as it will take some years to roll out, I would think that the occult blood tests would carry on for some time if not indefinitely.
