Despite following the suggestions in the link I still can't get past the 'authenticating' stage. Any thoughts?

First thoughts are probably same as yours, are you definitely using the right wifi password?
Question Author
Yes it's clearly printed on the modem(or whatever it's called now)
Your Hudl might be using the same wifi channel as something else in the home...ie a computer or internet radio.
Question Author
I use Virginmedia and it sometimes picks up BT, probably from a neighbours house. I don't have the hudl with me just now.
Question Author
Maybe one of their internet radios is causing the prob.
If it's the IP address from the wifi such as 12 34 45 67 and sometimes electronics share the same last number in the block of 4. On a computer that was sharing this same number with an iPad, I changed the last number and problem solved.
One can find routers get their knickers in a twist when more than one wireless connection is attempted. First suggestion is to turn off everything that uses the router, probably the router too, and then turn each on and re-establish a connection in turn. See if that sorts things out.
Question Author
Turned everything off and on again.
On Hudl : Status Connected
Signal strength Excellent
But it seems stuck there
Is it a mixed case password for the router?

When entering the router password on the hudl you can change the keyboard so it is typing lowercase or uppercase, make sure you have that right.

On some tablets you can select a "show password" option to see if you are entering it correctly.

Also as has been said, make sure you are trying to logon to YOUR router.

Check the router broadcast name (which should also be printed on the router) to make sure you are logging on to the right one.

Also, a router password can be changed, has anyone ever done that?
That seems right though Sandy.Have you now left that set-up and tried to access google or AB or something?
Question Author
I'm sure the password is entered correctly. When turned on the first screen is headed: Select wifi. There's a list and the first of them is virginmedia and underneath that the word, connected.

Clicking on VM a smaller window appears. It states: status connected. signal strength excellent.
There doesn't appear to be any way to move on from this.

(sorry about the delay in getting back, was out at the shops)
What happens when you press the back arrow or home buttons at the bottom of the screen?
Question Author
At this stage there is no back arrow.
I thought they were always there, have you tapped in the black/frame area of bottom of the screen? otherwise this is really weird, is it a new Hudl?
This happened to me a couple of weeks ago when I bought a Hudl 2 and when I checked I had made the smallest of mistakes in password.
There was no back arrow for me either at the time.
It says you are connected so you must have entered the correct password.

Is there a home icon at the bottom of the screen?
Question Author
It's a couple of weeks old.
Touching the area around the screen does nothing.
What exactly do you see on the screen? Are there any icons or anything any where?

Have you tried swiping up or down, or from side to side?

Question Author
There's nothing at the bottom of the screen except a cross and Other network...
I think I'll get in touch with Tesco and see if they'll replace it.
