Using Google I often find myself on a web page and wish to return to something previous. When I click on the blue 'Back' arrow at top left, instead of returning to the previous page I get the one I am already viewing repeated. If then click on the red 'Close' top right, I return to my desk top and have to start all over again from scratch. Is this usual, or is there some way to prevent this from happening please?

Happening to me too. Have had a message come up that my pc is not fully optimised the other day. Maybe has something to do with that. Need my daughter to sort out for me.
that sometimes happens because of something on the page, I am not clever enough to know what. But if you right-click on the Back arrow, it should list all your recent pages; just move the cursor down to the one you want, and click.
Yeah it happens to me too (I think it's something to do with the ad blocker)

Either double click the back button, or hold down on it and select the page from the menu that comes up.
Thankyou jno and ChuckFickens - will give it try.

I have tried the above methods but they don't work for me. The 'back' arrow is always feint in this case and the drop down doesn't list previous pages, it just says close or restore, neither of which gets me back. is it as Chuck says to do with the ad blocker? Any further suggestions please?
