BT Home Hub Problem

Please bear with me while I try to explain this problem, as I am NOT in the least technologically minded. A few days ago, my internet disconnected itself??? I tried the usual "repair connection" etc but got the message to "contact the person who manages your network" which I did. I was talked through repairing connection ie Press Run etc etc and it was OK until today, when it disconnected again. My husband installed the new hub we had and thought that would be ok but it still wouldn't work. I was on the phone to the call centre for well over an hour. The assistant talked me through repair AGAIN. COuldn't connect. He said he'd tested everything he could and that it must be the hub. I just think it's too much of a coincidence for it to be the old hub AND the new hub which is causing such problems. I'm on here now with no Wi-Fi just a plugged in connection. I can't get onto eBay without it saying it's UNTRUSTED. ANy thoughts please.

How long had you been connected without issues?
1st... check the time and date on your computer.

2nd try changing the channel for the wireless on the hub.

Apologies for late reply. Thank you both for answering me.

1) Connected for @ 5 or 6 years
2) now at 21.20 it's showing 06.35 and 1st January 2007

What's the significance of the date and time Chuck?
I'm no techy, but that date looks like the date you first received it, if it was 5 years ago - it's reset to day 1 ?
I have had all kinds of hassle with my bt connection lately. They are making changes to the exchanges round here ready for Infinity (south Hampshire) maybe its happening near you too.
Thanks for the warning - our BT home hub has been behaving itself recently (sssh)

No it's definitely just ours. Next door and over the road neighbours connections are fine:-(
The significance of the date and time is because of the "I can't get onto eBay without it saying it's UNTRUSTED."

If the date is wrong on your computer then the security certificate any secure website uses won't be seen as valid. for example, if the ebay certificate is valid from 1/1/1012 to 31/12/2012 and your computer's date is set to some time in 2007 then as far as your computer is concerned the certificate is outside it valid date.

Ah. Thank you. We're waiting for ANOTHER hub now. Fingers crossed.
If your problem persists with a new hub post your query here. They helped me recently when my BT Home Hub was playing up similar to yours. I ended up with two replacement hubs before it was fixed.
