Has this account been hacked or is it malware etc?

A good friend is unknowingly sending advertising links to everybody in her contact list from her yahoo account. Is it likely her account has been hacked (she can just change her password) or is it malware?

If these emails appear in her Sent Items folder, then yes.

If not, then almost certainly not.

yahoo said on a warring mine had been accessed in Amsterdam and advised a change of password which i did immediately

Her account was hacked. And the scammer send malicious links to her contact list. I think you should tell her to change her password as soon as possible.
