wireless automatic

I had to check my laptop battery and was told by tech support to switch off wireless to see how long battery lasts.Trouble is after every restart i now have to switch on wireless manually using FN and F11
I have checked settings and it says connect automatically-anyone know of solution as tech support are saying do a a full restore of OS to factory settings
