what sort of "extraneous stuff"? Have you set Google as your home page?
lol Box, that's exactly what I thought
I'm guessing ads?
But google home page doesn't have any, does it?

http://www.google.co.uk/
Correct - mine just has the Google logo and a text box.
ahhhh, it does in IE though

Farrnorth, you need to go into the settings and delete stuff or hit go back to classic
'classic home'

Many thanks Boxtops and ojread2. It now works perfectly. This happened when something called '????? ride' took over. How can I stop this happening again
ooo, errmm, no idea I'm afraid, sorry
Hopefully someone else will though
I would suggest your using Firefox as a default browser and retain IE as a back-up; if you should reqire to use it again.

Ron.
