Opera web browser

Hi all.

I use the opera browser all the time because its so very handy to have 12 sites available to click on, and until a couple of weeks ago I've ordered my aged mothers weekly shopping from the ASDA website (because it was so easy to use).

But now the website is impossible to use and I phoned them up and complained that they'd changed their website for the worse, only to be told that I was the only one to complain. Hmmm, maybe its the browser, so I tried GoogleChrome and I was back on the old familiar asda site.

Has Opera been updated without my knowledge or has some windows 7 update (they seem to arrive every day) messed things up? Can I just restore my PC to an earlier date, if so,how?

My system is: Windows 7 home premium
Opera version 11.5

Just found that Operas Help menu contains "Report a site problem" so they are obviously expecting trouble with what I presume is a new version! The version I have on my netbook works ok and does not have a menu bar where I can find out the version number. Why oh why do people upgrade programs and f**k them up?
Opera is the least secure of all the browsers and the most likely to get malware attacks you should be using IE9 if you have Windows 7 or at least IE8 .
Galeck1947 appears to be living in some sort of delusional state!

The browser most likely to succumb to external attacks has always been Internet Explorer. That's because (a) it's still (regrettably) the most commonly used browser and (b) it's produced by one of the world's most pathetic software companies, i.e, Microsoft. (Great marketing, constantly lousy software!).

Opera is a good (and compared with any version of Internet Explorer) a relatively secure browser. However it only has a fairly small fan base so it's unsurprising when a website only receives a single complaint about incompatibility. It's still far more likely that your problem lies with the Asda website than with the Opera programmers.

However it might be worth trying one of the two web browsers which nearly all of the 'regulars', here in AB's Technology section use. Most people around here (including me) use Firefox:

but Chrome has many fans as well:

Thanks Chris,

I've found that I have in fact installed v11.5 on my desktop PC but still have v10.63 on my laptop. I have got Google chrome on the desktop and that works OK so its not asda's fault, but mine for accepting Operas invitation to upgrade.
It seems to be impossible to download the old version of Opera so I'm stuck with the new version 11.5
Hmmm - we're just encountered this problem. Since the upgrade Asda thinks we're accessing from a mobile device rather than a desktop - URL starts "m.groceries..." and there's a "desktop website" option available, which doesn't work (in Opera). Its seems that Opera is emulating a mobile device - just can't seem to fix it at the moment...
Downgraded from Opera 11.51 to 11.11 and all's well. Search for "previous versions" on the Opera website and they tell you how to access older versions.

HTH,

Tony
I've had the same problem. I posted on another forum and have found we're not the only oneswith a problem. ASDA appears to have broken their site for Opera users by assuming all opera users will be on a mobile! I was told by ASDA support to use either internet explorer or Firefox but don't want to use either as they are neither fully web standards compliant. They don't seem to be interested in my business so I've stopped ordering from them and now use Tesco.
