Are drivers in Hertfordshire particularly bad?

Almost every day, on the radio, they report an accident on the M25 in Hertfordshire, somewhere between junctions 23 and 25.

While that does not overly inconvenience my walk along the seafront to get my newspaper, I'm curious as to why that section of the M25 has so many accidents.

It's those northerners jj. Their cloth caps keep falling in their eyes.

Actually, that IS the northern stretch of the M25, isn't it !
Lol, yes it is jj. We're safer just staying where we are on the south coast.
24 is a very unlucky number
it's a pretty busy section, I think. The southern sections are mostly green fields and farm lads taking their cattle across the road to pasture.
well helloooo! I go on the M25 every day, J22 - 23. it can be pretty slow moving, and a lot of traffic comes off at 23 (South Mimms, very busy), and so the traffic speeds up on the M25. so there you go.

sometimes I go further than J23 but have never witnessed an accident, and of course I have never caused an accident in my whole, entire life as I am a perfect driver. in Hertfordshire, and where ever else I so choose to go :o)
if there are no cameras and police about i am usually at the front well away from other vehicles that way you stay clear of accidents
It is a very busy stretch that has yet to be widened.

Also part of it is concrete, not tarmac. A little bit of oil and rainwater, and it gets slippy.

Sorry, Sassy Alfa Driver ... I'm sure the road carnage is nothing to do with you.

Is it worth joining the M25 for just one junction?

It's a horrid road.
The alternative for Sara would be the A414 - not much better than the Road to Hell

I wonder if

... "the M25 in Hertfordshire is closed anti-clockwise due to an accident" ...

... yet?
probably due to a cyclist going the wrong way
Question Author
There aren't any cyclists on the M25.
That is a particularly nasty bit of the M25, you've two of the busiest junctions on the 25 in that stretch meaning there is a lot of people that are either joining or leaving the motorway, an act in itself that is much higher risk than just driving along a road and it also leads to a lot of fast moving traffic suddenly coming to a stop caused by the volume of traffic joining the M25 on that stretch too.

I quite often pick the A414 in preference to the M25 around that area just to make a change although they are both horrible bit's of road.
