Switched on pc this morning and just got a screen saying that it could not open normally and was searching for a solution. It then went to another screen which asked if I wanted to restore but would lose all data.

I rebooted and everything loaded normally so I took the oportunity to back up all my data.

In the event viewer I found these entries

"I rebooted and everything loaded normally"

Leave it then, if it's working OK now it may just be a one off.

If it does it again then the text on the blue screen itself is more helpful.
Agreed ... it had a phart whilst loading, nothing more.

Thanks for the replies will see what happens tomorrow and avoid the urge to "fiddle" with any settings.

Not my day today whilst I was doing the backups I turned in my chair and ripped the tray from the DVD writer with my knee .... Oh joy.
