Touchpads operate in one of several ways, including capacitive sensing and conductance sensing. The most common technology used as of 2010[update] entails sensing the capacitative virtual ground effect of a finger, or the capacitance between sensors. Capacitance-based touchpads will not sense the tip of a pencil or other similar implement. Gloved fingers may also be problematic.

John lewis sell gloves that are said to work....not quite sure why though.

yes woofgang theyre what made me think that the same stuff in the glove fingers may be available in a pen form to use directly on your laptop touchpad...

naz its a mouse tablet 604 ...i cant find one of the leads to check if it will work with win7
The tablet should (so I've just read) be automatically recognised in WinXP. I don't see why it shouldn't work with Win7.
