HP Photosmart C4780 Wireless Printer not connecting to Apple imac

Well I have just been to PC World and bought the above. It works with a cable but not wirelessly. The network test is showing wireless on and wireless working but failing on the network name (SSID) whatever that is. It is showing the hardware address as my Apple imac.
Anyone any ideas otherwise I am going to have to have it cabled and I could have bought a cheaper one to do that.

Thank you Chuck, I have just spent nearly 3 hours trying to get it sorted and I am totally fed up with it all. Will try again using the HP website tomorrow. I see on reading through many other comments online that quite a few people have problems with HP wireless printers and Apple imacs.
