Ipnone and new laptop...

Hi all and thanks for checking out my question!

My computer crashed and i had to restore it back to factory settings, due to this i have lost all programs etc.

I have just installed a new version of iTunes and logged in to my account. I was expecting to the see my purchased songs and apps, but it is all blank.

if i connect my ipnone and sync, will it:

1. Sync my iphone to my PC and add all that is on my iPhone to the PC

or

2. Sync my PC to my iphone and delete all that is on my iphone

Thanks but its not he music the i'm really bothered about as i have most of it already backed up.
There must be a way of up/down loading everything from an iPhone to a laptop (inc apps, phone numbers etc)
