No Internet Connection

My son can't get his laptop to connect to the internet. Router to laptop connects. It worked fine on saturday, now, nothing. Any reasonable suggestions please.

To help the following answers be more accurate, could you please state how you connect to the router - wireless or ethernet. Was it just the once that you tried or have you retried over a couple of days. If wireless, is the router/laptop transmission encrypted? When the laptop is on, is there a little monitor icon in the taskbar - generally right bottom and is there a cross on the icon or just dark blue.

It's Vista. Wireless. Been trying since Sunday, was fine Saturday night. Network connection says connected. Just cant get on Internet.
