Hi there,
I have a Toshiba laptop with a widescreen and the picture looks a bit stretched; not really a problem, just a bit annoying. Is there any way of 'squeezing' it in a bit to look more normal?
Many thanks for any help.

When you say "the picture" do you mean the Windows desktop and windows themsleves.

Or do you mean a picture (photo) you have as your desktop wallpaper.

If it is a photo then this is because your dekstop is widesreen, so the picture has to be stretched to fit the full window.

If it is your normal desktop, then you need to find out what resolution your screen is (1400x900 or whatever) then make sure your Windows screen size is set the same.

Runing Vista you right click on the desktop, choose Personalize, then Display settings.

On the Display Settings window look at the resolution in the bottom left.

That tells you what your settings CURRENTLY are.
If it is your normal desktop, then you need to find out what resolution your screen is (1400x900 or whatever) then make sure your Windows screen size is set the same.

Just to add to what VHG said, if the graphics drivers have been setup properly the resolution the screen is meant to be set in will be the highest you are able to set it to.

Thanks for your suggestions guys, but I've managed to solve the problem.
Right click on Desktop, then Graphic Options, then Panel Fit, then there are 3 options. Full Screen No Border was checked so I unchecked it then checked Maintain Aspect Ratio instead.
Hey presto, it worked.
There's now a 1" border on both sides of the screen, but at least the picture (Windows Desktop) is normal.

Cheers, Cliosmum
