How is it possible? would the person have to go into my computer settings in my house to do it
One of the options in Windows is Remote Desktop Connection.

If someone got into your house, and set an option on your computer to ALLOW remote desktop connection, then they could do it.

They would go into Remote Desktop Connection on THEIR computer to link to your computer.

However, your computer screen would be "locked" while they were dong it, so if you were sitting at your screen you would know.
People could also install a program called a keylogger on your computer.

While this wont let them link to your computer it will allow them to see everything you type, including text, passwords, credit card details and on on.

What makes you suspect this sort of thing may have happened?
be more specific ... hackers can (could) access just about any part of your network ... they don't need physical access to the machine (although that would make life easier)

but as chuck says ... why are you worth the effort?
