Do you get any errors? Kind of hard to diagnose otherwise.

HI It lets me get most of the way then a pop up keeps appearing and wont go away.
It has on it help and ok.
Talks about the cable is not new enough, it is an older one but tried my friends as well which is newish and same thing happening.
Never heard of a printer not installing due to having an old cable.

In any case, get a new cable and try again - this time, dont plug the printer into the PC until the software installation tells you to - in my experience, HP printers have been notorious for not installing properly, if you have everything connected up before putting in the software.

Does the pop up have anything else written on it apart from help or ok? There MUST be an error somewhere.

Give us a clue.
just a thought (as I have never seen a cable age related problem either)

Are you sure it's saying the cable is too old, or is it informing you that you only have a USB1 port and it requires USB2
Hi cab
I too had problems with an HP - found the solution was to download thr software/drivers from HP website. The discs are often well out of date. Good luck

Hi FBG40
I was wondering if you could talk me through the process at all, and I could show it to my friend who may be able to understand better than me.xx
Hi Cab
Sorry about the delay, been very busy. Go to HP's website, look for downloads, select software/drivers. It will then ask you to enter the model of your printer, enter this and follow instructions. Make sure you go HP's UK website. Good luck
