Microsoft Lifecam VX-1000

I have recently purchased a Microsoft Lifecam VX-1000 but am unable to fully install the software. The web cam gives a picture but no sound. Part way through installing the software I get an error message stating that "there is insufficient free disk space or an unexpected error has occurred".
I know that there is sufficient disk space and have tried downloading the driver from the microsoft website but with the same result.
Frustration is now taking hold can anyone help?

The Microsoft Lifecam installation is usually pretty robust - are you 100% sure that you are installing it on the drive with the free space?

Have you tried running a program like CCleaner? http://www.ccleaner.com - it will free up space and remove temporary files that might be causing problems. It's a long shot, but one that is worth trying.

Thanks, MVP, for your answer. I've checked the drive and it seems to have enough free space, but I will certainly give your idea a go.
