Firewall

How can I find out if I have more than one Firewall operating. I know that I have Windows Firewall but I suspect there may be another one in operation also.

If you are on XP or Vista go into the Windows Security Centre and see what it says on there.

If it says the Windows firewall is on then turn it off, and THEN see what the security centre says you have.

If you have another one on it will tell you.

Note the Windows firewall is NOT very good (particularly in XP) so you are better using a stand alone firewall like Zone alarm which is free for home use.

Thanks vehelpfulguy - did that but Windows says that it can't detect all firewalls, so I'm still not sure!

Browse your Hard drive, and look through all folders and see if there are any others lingering over your machine, windows cannot always detect if its own one is turned off because it only has a database of well known ones.
