this morning, and couldn't see anything in the history. It was just a minor annoyance that I had to put them back, but have the first lot gone forever, or can I retrieve them in a simple manner? Also, what causes this - a bug? I have a memory stick thing, but I'm not sure how to use it. How do you put back certain things, yet retain others? Sorry to be so vague, but as i've said before, I don't know much about computers. Thanks.

1) Not sure how to retrieve your bookmarks; it depends on what you've done.

2) To try and prevent this happening again, use del.icio.us (sounds complicated but it's easy and free.)

It's a free online service that stores your bookmarks in public for you. So you can share your fave sites with everyone else. When on a page you want to bookmark, you do so in the normal way, and 'tag' them to remember them. For example, if you bookmarked this page, you may choose the tags 'answer' and 'help'.

They also have a very good firefox extension:

That way, even if your entire house is destroyed in some freak weather incident, your bookmarks should still be safe.
Close Firefox.

Go to start - run and type

firefox.exe -ProfileManager

Launch firefox from that, and you should find your bookmarks restored
I use FEBE

and Foxmarks
