sp1 is being distributed in phases .... maybe it's just not your turn yet

right click computer | properties
scroll down .... if it's installed ... it will say so

alternatively - it's possible that your problem is here

Didn't read AcTheTroll's link so it might be saying the same thing, but basically, if the system detects that you have hardware that may have a problem after installing SP1 (for example AC97 audio), it automatically hides the update. If that's the case, it's a pretty good indication that you would be better off without it (at least for now).

I spend all that time ..... and you didn't read ......
;-(actually we "did" service packs it in class last week ... and one of my muppets found the page - I said something like ... maybe ... one in 10,000 <}o]

(can't say I blame you for not reading... it's as dry as dust ... by the time you get to reason 6 the world seems a less worthwhile place- I'd lost the will to live by reason 8 .... slightly better than harry potter ... but only just)

Thanks to you both .It's not listed in computer properties & I have run a HP update scan which says everything is up to date . So I presume I will as rojash says 'be better off with out it ( at least for now) ?
