Installing Firefox will not stop you getting spam emails.

(2-part post):

Hello again, Shylock.

The instructions to get rid of blocked pop-ups, from your Google Toolbar on Internet Explorer were in this link:
http://toolbar.google.com/popup_help.html

My reference to Firefox was a suggestion that you should abandon Internet Explorer (and its Google Toolbar) altogether. If you've not already done so, run the set-up program which you downloaded (by double-clicking on it). When you're asked if you want to import your Internet Explorer 'favorites', select 'Yes'. In future, when you go online, don't open Internet Explorer; use Firefox instead. It works in a very similar way to Internet Explorer but pages will load much faster. It's built-in pop-up blocker will do the job that the Google Toolbar did. (If you want to perform a Google search, there's a search box built in at the top right of the screen).
To get rid of spam (or, at least, to reduce it), I suggested Mailwasher. You can't stop people sending unwanted emails to your mail box on your ISP's (or other e-mail provider's) server but you can prevent most of them from being forwarded to your inbox. (That's what Mailwasher seeks to do).

As an additional way of reducing spam, I suggested using multiple e-mail accounts, possibly using Gawab. For example, you could call yourself [email protected] on your website but [email protected] on Myspace. If you wanted an address where AB members could contact you, you could be [email protected]. For personal emails, from your friends, you could be [email protected], while you could use [email protected] for internet purchases. Then, if one of those accounts starts getting flooded with spam, you can just abandon that address (and create another one) without having to change your contact details for other purposes.

Links for Mailwasher and Gawab were provided in this link from my previous post:

I did read your Q. You said you had used firefox and were wondering how to stop spam. I merely said that installing Firefox will not stop spam. If you are under the impression that it will, then you are mistaken.
