Can playstation 3 be used with PC monitor?

I have a Playstation 3 which I used with my TV . But my TV has broken so I've not been able to use my PS3. Rather than buy another second hand TV screen is it possible to use a spare PC monitor to vew the games/graphics? Has anyone done this?
