Toolbar & Taskbar keep disappearing

This has only started happening since downloading a couple of programs. I
When I touch the top of the screen the toolbar appears, but not for long - and the whole page looks too big, although I have checked display - and it is the right size.

Please help as it's driving me mad. Thank you.

Thank you so much neil. All is well now - but it is a mystery how the taskbar was unlocked.

I've just read my question again and I'm not surprised you were confused.
I should have waited till the red vin had dispersed a little more, I think ;-)
