When I play a DVD on my laptop, the dvd will play, but with no sound. I do not have a sound problem with any other applications (CDs, internet, etc). Nothing is set to mute or anything like that. Can anyone help please?

Hi Bekka,
Am using Windows XP. Have tried playing DVD in Real Player, Intervideo Win DVD and Windows Media Player, but none will play sound. Am also testing on a dvd that did work before (but three years ago). Don't know what has changed, and any troubleshooting I've tried to do didn't resolve it. Thanks for your help!
I tried WMP 11 a while ago...had to download a codec pack to play sound in movies...can't remember which codec pack though...i've gone back to 9...prefer it.

If you haven't sorted it yet

Try searching for 'Windows Media Codec Pack' ...or try this one...you can uninstall it if it doesn't work.
