mpeg files on WMP

On windows media player i can play avi files no problem in full screen mode, however i cannot play mpeg files in full screen. i used to be able to. Have I inadvertently changed a setting on the player or would changing the file properties help? is so, what should i change for either?

yes they're all on...except video mixing renderer?
