hey.
Ive just replaced an atx power pack that blew out..when i switched it back on ,evrything is working,cd drive, hard drive is turning.cables are correct..but there is no beep .and nothing coming up on my monitor..it all seems to be ticking over ok.but possibly no communication between hd and mobo.i was thinking it might be something on the mobo..is there a reset jumper or something like this?
I replaced a 400w sumvision atx power supply with a 200w viglen power supply if that might be a reason.

if the MOBO wasnt reading the devices (there is a minimum of like, 1 hard disk, 1 cpu etc) and one of the required devices wasnt working then the system should give you several other beeps that you can use to find the problem (ie seven beeps repeated twice shows a graphics card failure). No POST beep, no error beeps? maybe your MOBO itself is messed up
You just might not have enough "juce" available ...
PSUs are best running at less that 60% of capacity.

why do you think no picture = a hdd problem if the hdd is spinning?

does the machine make all the right noises
(as if it's booting from the hdd)
(the beep can be disabled in bios it seems!??)

What's your system spec?

it's more than possible that the PSU took out the graphics card - do you see the post screen at switchon?

hey...there is no beeps whatsoever.no post screen.hd is workin because i tried it on another pc and its fine..iam thinking the power supply is not enough because the one that blew was 400w and this is 200..wot r the signs for a p/s that is not strong enuff....oh..i also took the ram out hoping for sum beeps ,but nothing..i have an amd athlon 2.8,american megatrends asrock mobo ks741 something..1 gig of ram,...oh .and keyboard mouse no lights..but cd/dvd drive ,fans are ok..
there aren't any hard signs ... things just stop working.

Depens why the PSU blew.
sometimes, if it's one of the big capacitors the spike takes out other components as well.

Only way I can think is to disconnect EVERYTHING you don't need ... any non essential cards, CD/DVD, floppy, any case fans (NOT the processor fan!!!!!), even the mouse.

see if it starts up (you only need post)
If yes ... start re-building ... one component at a time (tedious).

I think from what you say though
that the mobo is dead
