Hi,

Can anyone tell me an easy way of connecting my laptop up to my TV. I bought a High Integrity SVGA Monitor cable, which has 2 male ports. They fit into both my laptop and my TV correctly, but when I switch on my laptop the TV shows a message saying Mode Not Supported.

I have a Samsung LCD TV.

Is there anything else I need to buy, or something I need to do on the TV? I have tried to go through the set up procedure, but it doesn't allow me to access the PC set up.

Please help...

Thanks

More than likely you need to upgrade you graphics drivers. take a look in your system info and check the manufacturers website.
After getting up to date right click on your desktop and select porperties... then on the settings tab, you should see two screens in the middle if one has a dotted line around it click on 'extend my desktop to thi..'

This should have your screen working, now you'll just have to work on the sound!
You probably need to change the refresh rate to suit your TV. Most TVs will only support a refresh rate of 50 or 60 Hz.
Also, you need to change the resolution to match the native resolution of the TV (Most TVs only support much lower resolutions than monitor screens).

Both the refresh rate and the resolution will be in the Specifications section of the TV Manual.

To change these settings:
Right-click a clear area of the desktop and choose Properties.
Click the Settings tab, and set the resolution
Click the Advanced button
Click the Monitor tab
Set the Refresh rate.
Click OK, then OK again

I might be completely on the wrong track here but I was trying something similar a good while back and only getting a blank screen on the TV, think I was trying to watch a DVD on the TV via laptop.
Does your laptop have a key (possibly a function key - it's F7 on mine). with a small rectangle icon saying LCD in it then a fwd slash and picture of a screen with an arrow coming out of it. I seem to recall that by selecting this button and switching from one mode to the other my laptop screen was then visible on the TV .

Might be worth a try
