PC shutting down

I had a problem the other day whereby when I booted my PC and then logged on IE would kick off and open up multiple copies of the same web page. I ran AVG and manage to cure that problem, but it's now left me with another one. If I boot up in any version of 'Safe Mode' my PC is stable, but if I boot up normally it runs through the usual startup processes and then after about 5 minutes the PC just shuts down. Anybody got any ideas of what's causing it or how I might cure it. I've run registry mechanic, Spybot and various other utilities and although they all say they've found and cured a problem I still get the same result when I reboot

If it works fine in safe mode i would vote that you have a dodgy driver. Safe mode doesnt load all of the drivers, while a normal boot does.

When your pc loads normally, while its on the boot screen, press tab and you will see the drivers loading, if it hangs on a particular file then it could be the problem file.

Your pc might be overheating a little too, so give it a clean out with a good old fashioned hoover :) create an airflow

Cheers Paulst30 I'll give it a go and see what happens
Do you actually know what's running in your Start Up?
For a guide as to what should and what should not be running have a look at;
