That's a long time away, especially for the computer industry. Don't decide which one to get now.

Currently, get the 32-bit. That situation may change in due course though.
Choose 64-bit if you want your RAM to exceed 4Gb and be recognised.

Worth noting that not many vendors are even thinking about providing drivers for the 64-bit version as they are still trying to catch up with the 32-bit version.

Also i read that Microsoft are so pushing the 64-bit version and some say that even sooner they might even think about only producing the 64-bit version.

Anyway its up to you, and the main advantage is that you can add more RAM.
Oh i forgot to say that buying the top Vista OS, you get both versions. Or so i was told by PC Pro magazine this month.
Basically (with only a few exceptions) there are no 64 bit programs and precious few 64 bit drivers out there.

Yes you can fit more than 4 Gb of ram .... but unless you use extremely specialised photo or movie editing software ... it's unlikely that you will ever (that's ever at the moment!) use more than %50 of the 4Gb total.

64 bit computing is pretty much the one that got away ...

For "normal" users very few "serious" progs use anywhere near a PC's full potential - It's games that work PCs the hardest - and while there are games being written to exploit 2 or more cores .... there still aren't any planned to use 64 bit instruction sets.

64 bit sounds like MORE POWER - actually you'll find a lot of your existing soft and hardware will stop working.
