I have just got a wireless laptop which is not yet connected to the internet.
I have all my docs. on a pendrive and was told that I do not need internet access to see them but when I try to,I can't ( there is an 'X ' next to each of the folders.)
So does this mean I do need internet to be able to access them?
Can anyone advise...please.

You don't need internet access to open and read .doc files.

Do the files open on your old pc?

Thank.
Yes,they open old PC...no problem.

So what exactly happens when you try to open them?
does your pc run on the same operating system as your desktop. i had this problem previously so installed office 2000 to both the desktop and laptop, making doc's readable on both machines.

apologies, it should have read does your laptop run the same operting system as your desktop.

Thanx to everyone for their answers.
I seem to have solved the problem....my laptop has software already installed which I am not familiar with,so am working my way through it.Plus it is Windows XP ( with W.Vista upgrade),my other is W 200 Prof.
However will not be using a wireless router,am going to run on a data card which I am getting this afternoon from the O2 shop.Must admit....cannot believe that it works like I've been told...if it does, will be GREAT !!!!!

Will let you know how I get on...!
