Date & Time in taskbar

Is there a setting somewhere that allows you to show the date as well as the time in the taskbar ?
I am running windows xp.

There are programmes available that do this, but this is how Windows does it:

Thank you Ethel I did it as per the link you gave me. I'm not sure whether I like the taskbar twice as wide as normal. I will have to see if I can get used to it.
Right click on the the taskbar and unlock (if locked)
drag the top of the taskbar upwards to make it double width and you'll have time day and date displayed
If you hover the cursor over the time for a second, the date shows in a pop-up.
