Last year we purchased a new computer and installed Norton Inernet Security 2006, it is about to expire. Can I install the exact same product which hasn't been used (it was bought in Aug for a friend but wasn't installed) and do I need to remove the existing from my computer? Thanks in advance.

You will need to check on the Symantec website about this to be sure, but I vaguely recall Norton 2006 having a 15 day 'activation period' and if the code was not activated withing the 15 days, the disc would be useless.
What about AVG free antivirus it does not cost you a penny, gertting the upgrade on Norton will cost about 19-99.
