I have a Canon digital camera which will take a few minutes of video footage. However the files are in mvi format, and are huge - about 100mb a minute. I have 2 questions - is this normal for video files, and if not, is it possible to convert the files to mpeg or something else? Apologies if my questions are daft but I am a bit of a beginner with taking videos..............

Yes, depending on your quality settings. Video files are huge, especially if you're talking about HD quality.

Do you use windows? If so, you could use a file converter program. Many video apps will do this for you, as well as other free apps like super:
