wireless conection

i have a wireless laptop that wont connect

Has it ever connected to your setup?
Have you changed anything?
Windows XP?
What happens when you try to connect?

in the task bar it says its connected but when i try to connect to explorer its says no internet connection

also ive not changed anything but have only ever used the ethernet cable to connect and im using xp any help would be most appreciated

So, Windows XP.

When you click on the wireless icon in your taskbar - what does it say?

In particular the speed and strength.

it comes up wih 54.0 and strength excellent

Turn down the settings for your firewall - I had to turn my down from high to medium.

Go to your router set up page and check the settings are ok.

If that doesn't work - reset the router. My router has a little button at the back which has to be held down for 10 seconds with a pencil.

im using a wanadoo livebox is this the sameas a router

I don't know! I imagine it must be.

Disable your firewall just to see if that solves the problem.

Thank you for all your help Ethel i had to reload my windows xp disc in the end and the disc for the drives i've manage to connect to the internet but pc is running really slow
