What is the problem that means you have to resort to this extreme measure.

Before formatting the hard drive have you backed up all important documents,photos etc. and have you got the discs to reload all your programmes and your motherboard drivers.

I am not sure I fully understand your question. You mention master disk, but what master disk.

And will what be fixed ?

Do you mean you want to completely re-install Windows and overwrite everythng on your hard drive?

If not then what DO you want to do.
