epson stylus C64 problem

help, Ive just replaced the black cartridge, printed out a couple of sheets, and when i turned it on today - nothing- just 2 flashing red lights, and the software telling me 'there is a problem with the printer'. anyone any idea? or am I in for another new printer?

thanks for that obione some very useful info there but after a good look and a bit of poking around i'm afraid my printer has died. hey ho, 2 years hard work aint bad!!
