How to change photo Size

How do I minimize a photo to avatar size, say 100x100/6 Kb.

I have photoshop elements 4, but it seems to cut parts of the photo out, instead of just minimizing the whole photo.

Is this able to be done in photoshop or is there another application I can do this in?

Any help appreciated.

If you goto image->image size, you can resize it there.

Though personally I'd just goto file->save for web, and choose the size there.

(this is assuming elements 4 has the same options here as cs2.)

I have done the resize thing and thats when it starts. I have two opitions adjust canvas size or image size.

Ex. Photo of a dog want to resize it and it leaves me with just the head, and the body has been cut away.
