I've got some navy suede walking shoes which clean up pretty well if sponged with soapy water. Try not to get them any wetter than possible and pat off as much surplus moisture as possible with an old absorbent towel. Light colours might be a little more difficult if the footprints contain the black rubber of undersoles of shoes but I used a little diluted Ariel washing machine liquid and got good results.
buy some suede spray from clarkes. dont put water on the suede, it ruins them slowly, but surely!
I've got some suede boots. You can get a suede cleaner from any good shoe shop which is pretty easy to use. Mine was from clarks and gets the dirt off. From memory (don't hold me to it, I'm getting old) I believe you spray it on direct, but it has directions... If I want to buff them up I just boil the kettle, hold them over the steam and then with the non brush side of a clothes brush rub over them. Seems to do the trick for me.
