Downloading Word files

Whenever I try to download a Microsoft Word file it opens in Word Pad and I get a message saying "unable to load graphic conversion filter". Does anyone know how I get them always to open in Microsoft word? Thanks in advance

...mmm...the usual way I do it is to right click the file and choose Open With..........then click on Choose Program...select Microsoft Word and check the box to "always use the selected program for this type of file".............commoner ;-)

if the above doesn't work try: right click my computer > explore at the top of the new windows click tools > folder options on the file type tab find .doc (word files) and change it so it opens with winword.exe that can be found in c:\program files\microsoft office\office or office10
