or have I just become cynical about relationships?
My last partner left me 4 years ago when I was going through a bad time with mental health issues. It devastated me at the time. Since then, ive got my life back together again. (and the support of people on here at the time when I was going through the mill with the courts, psych services etc was invaluable). Now ive got more of a social life than ive ever had...im in a quiz team, a reading group, a film group, I spend more time with my mates than I ever did. I have the freedom to go out whenever I want, watch whatever I want, get drunk if I want, spend all night with my nose stuck in a book if I want.
Ive often thought it would be nice to have a bit of female company again... someone to spoil, make love to, go out with... but in no rush to go looking.
However, for the last couple of months theres been a female ive started to become close to at a group I attend. She makes a bee line for me, always wants to sit with me and always waits for me to walk to the bus stop with etc.
(must be the pheromones, certainly isnt my looks lol) I might be reading in to this but the point is its freaking me out a bit and making me think that either Ive just become set in my ways now and dont want the hassle of a relationship or im just cynical of relationships.
Anyone else here happy been single?
Thanks

Slightly different but I am widowed and not going to look for another partner....I may be odd but I have always thought it was slightly the wrong way round to “go looking” for a partner....that you (one) shouldn’t be choosing to spend your life with someone you can live with but only giving up being alone because you have found someone you can’t live without.
A few years after my mum died I asked my dad if he had thought of finding a lady and getting married again.

He looked horrified and said "Your mummy put me off women for life".

:-)

I was single, and happy, for about 5 years before I met my wife (30+ years ago) she walked into my local with a group of her mates, I said to my drinking buddy "that brunette over there, she's mine" and sure enough, life changed overnight, never looked back.
Nailit, go on dip your toes into the water again. I believe a little love is a good thing, mixing with others on a more personal level makes you feel a little fuzzy.

I felt a little fuzzy with my last partner Sharon. Think it was something to do with her putting ground up sleeping tabs in my tea, lol
I've been a widow 7½ years now and I never once thought about finding someone I could care deeply for - I was wrong though.

Regarding getting set in your ways and a bit selfish, yes you do get like that.

Do what you feel is right.
Can you just be friends for now and see how it goes? Don't give up on your other activities. Just go with the flow.

Blimey Nailit you can't half pick 'em.
Mr Talbot - I am sure that you and the other Mr Talbot2 have been happy for the last 20 years. Has your wife said anything yet?

Whatever floats your boat Bill.
;o)
Woofy I love your answer, not odd at all, I'll remember that.
I've been on my own for years, had relationships that didn't end badly, they just weren't right. I never say never but I'm not searching for anyone.

Funny thing Tills but the vast majority of my friends over the years have been women. Ive got little in common with most men, I hate sport, I dont like pubs/nightclubs, I dont like typical mens talk about women ("cor, look at the knockers on that") And ive posted on here before that Ive never asked a woman out in my life, all my relationships have been a natural progression of my friendships.
Well, there you go, Nailit. What's she like, this stalker?
I hope you all the very best Nailit.

stalker...lol. Shes not bad looking, gsoh, etc. A few years ago I would have taken it further (if I could) but now im just wary. (think ive just grown accustomed to a very contented single life, but who knows?)
All my long term relationships have ended in disaster and im no longer interested in a short term bonk...

thank you TWR
I think the same as woofgang. I much prefer being single, I can't see that changing.
Relationships need to be worked on, don't they? If you can't be bothered then you'd better disregard this one and carry on as you are.
No spark then?
