Samsung Galaxy S3 Tablet Won't Allow Factory Reset

Hello,
We need to do a reboot on our tablet as my daughter has forgotten her pin.
The tablet will go into recovery mode and offers the 6 options:
Reboot system now
Apply update from ADB
apply update from external storage
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
apply update from cache.
However everytime we try to move down the menu it skips an option so we are unable to highlight and choose the wipe data/factory reset option.
Please advise any suggestions.
