I am sure that there is a technical solution... but when I had this problem I unplugged it and took time to calm down. When I put the plug back in the release worked. Then I bought a new machine.

Google it - not being rude - my 6 month old machine did this on Sunday. There was a cm square of purple foam in some bit (where it shouldn't have been). Would have cost us if the engineer had found that.
You've probably got something caught in the pump that's stopping it and therefore it can't drain the water from it..

Remove the pump, split the assembly and clear the blockage. put it back together and reinstall pump..

Sorry if you wanted a "press this button" answer... not gonna happen here..
Turn the power supply off and remove the plug from the wall socket before you start messing about inside it. You really need to drain the water out first.
Partially remove the filter at the front of the machine and soak the water up with towels, wringing them out as you go.
The door release device should release after a couple of minutes, then you can remove your washing from the drum.
Remove the filter cover completely and check inside for any obstructions.
Most washing machine allow you to cancel the cycle by holding down the start button..... if you think it's blocked... try putting it on drain... if this doesn't work hold down again ... and this is the nasty bit ... open the door.. not really that bad but will involve water... water will not come flooding out ..... but washing will be really wet.... sort out filter... then spin... if this does not work call the washing machine man
