i have just purchased this anti spyware and anti malware programme and so far it appears to have removed the problems i had. now i am reading some bad reviews about this programme, even that it is malware itself. i understand that i have bought this on a semi annual basis, so in 6 months will need to decide whether i want to renew. i have read that they auto renew and it is difficult to get them to stop, or to cancel it. has anyone out there any experience, either good or bad with this programme.

What problem did you have which made you think that 'Spyhunter' was the answer.? How much did it cost and how do you stop the firm automatically re-newing and taking money from your Bank account; even if you cancel the contract.?

You may now have to 'cut your losses' and change your Bank Account or risk being 'ripped-off'.

we had something called delta search, i tried several spyware and malware free programmes and none of them removed it. this one did, i downloaded it first and it located the spyware, then you had to pay to have them removed. it was supposed to be $29.99 but if you tried to remove it you got it cheaper in £ it worked out at just over £7, which i believe is for 6 months. i have no quibble with the price i paid, nor with its functionality. it is just that since i bought it, i have read some reviews that suggest that this programme is actually malware itself, and that this company keeps taking your money every 6 months even if you ask them to cancel. i don't actually know if these reviews are true and if this does actually happen. i paid with a credit card and the amount taken on this occasion was exactly the amount it said it would take. i really only asked the question to see if anyone within answerbank had used this programme themselves and whether they had experienced problems with payments being taken after they had tried to cancel.
It's very little that I can establish about 'Spyhunter' anti spyware. Consequently, as a number of reports are Not favourable, it is a product that I would avoid.

Nevertheless, I am pleased that you have got shot of the problematic 'Delta Search'.

If I were you, I would play it safe. Contact the Bank and change Bankcard Number. Then refrain from renewing the programme.

Have you tried Malwarebytes which is an excellent programme and there is a free edition available.

i did actually try malwarebytes the free version, it did locate delta search as malware but did not remove it adequately, it was still appearing somewhere in the background. what i will have to do is make a note when spyhunter is due for renewal, attempt to cancel and if they do still continue, i will have to put it into dispute with the credit card. short of closing down the credit card, which i don't want to do, i can't get the number changed.
I am a little surprised that you are unable to have altered the number of your Credit card. However, I am pleased that you are watching matters for the future.

Malwarebytes is in my opinion top of the charts. However, it must be acknowledged that Delta Search is one of the most difficult programmes to fully remove and it's something of a compliment that Spyhunter has done it; without ABers ( such as myself perhaps ) who would Not have charged a single penny.

Incidentally, I am very very 'small fry' amongst AB members giving advice in the 'Technology' section, but would suggest that you post into AB before spending any money on computer problems which you have difficulty resolving.

thanks for the information. it has to be said spyhunter is difficult to remove. i found it when searching microsoft help sites for a solution to delta search. in the first place i didnt intend to buy it and tried to uninstall it. when i tried to do this, it simply directed me to questions as to why i wanted to do this. when i clicked on too expensive, it then offered to be able to buy it for $10, which is what i then paid. i have no problem with it actually in terms of what it does, but am concerned now as to how much they will charge next time, and whether it will be able to cancel. i have found some instructions as to how to do this, but involves a phone call, and knowing what the purchase number is. i will keep an eye on things.
iloveglee...Are you resident in the UK. ? I ask because you appear to be purchasing in dollars.

Furthermore, although you say that you are unable to change the the number on your Credit Card; is this your opinion, or have you approached the Issuer of the card and have been told so.

I would allow 'Spyhunter' to remain for the moment, in the knowledge that there are Techies in AB who can advise you how to remove it.

I am resident in the uk but bought this online from, presumably, a us site. i have spoken to the credit card company, the only way to change the number of the account would be if there had been fraudulent activity on it. they advise me to keep a close eye on transactions appearing, especially around the time that the next payment to spyhunter is due. if i attempt to cancel but they still take the payment, or if they take payments which do not reflect a reasonable purchase (i know what the regular payment is for this programme), i can put the transaction into dispute with the card company. they then suspend the need for me to pay while they make investigations. i intend to keep it for the moment and then a month before the next payment is due i will try to cancel it. if this does not work, or if any irregular payments are taken i will then take the card company's advice. it maybe that i am worrying un-necessarily and this company is perfectly legitimate - the reviews i read were not that recent. if i cannot delete this programme when i want to i may be back for further help. i am grateful for the advice you have given in the meantime
Hi iloveglee...Thanks for having replied to all my communications. I certainly feel that you are now with it on this one and, if you think I can be of any further help to you, this thread remains open as being 'Subscribed'. I shall keep a look-out other postings you make into AB.

Best wishes ....Al.
