Microsoft no longer develop or sell Works so any new laptop wont have that on it. An older one might.
Some laptops that have Windows 7 installed may have the free version of Ofice 2012 that only incudes Word and Excel (and cut down versions of them). This is a "never ending" version of Office, not a trial version.
A Windows 8 laptop will not have any version of Office (or Word) unless you paid for it to be added.
