Webcam via xbox?

I have Tony at Uni flat with internet access and Xbox. Have David at home with me and newer Xbox and Windows 7 desktop downstairs and David's pc upstairs with webcam. David has suggested buying Tony a webcam and using xboxes for livechat. Is this better than installing Skype and buying Skypephones?
What do I need to get? Have wireless router installed already using Virgin broadband cable.

yep, this is a good way to chat as long as you both have headsets.

Yes thanks for that. Will buy myself a secret headset and a webcam for Tony. Dread to think what I've spent phoning his mobile!! Uni landline in flat broken.
