I am using windows 7. I right clicked on my desktop and selected create new folders. I am then draging pictures into this folder from three other folders. I would like to arrange them in a certain order but they only go by number. I can only see something to arrange by date or size I can I not make them go in an order I would like. Is this possible? Big thanks in advance.

Only by naming them carefully with numbering, and testing (if you are expecting them to follow an order while playing like a slideshow)
You can r click in folder and 'sort by' name, etc if that helps.

Yes was going to hit slide show. But want all the ones in the pool first then the beach ect. Should I rename them all like 1 2 3 4?
right ... err ... want to send them to me to sort out? : )

Yes .. use 001, 002, 003, etc to make them run right.
Al.
I note that you are using Windows 7, whereas I am operating with Vista.

However I would have thought that what I can do with Vista you should be able to do with W 7.

In fact to try and answer your question I have opened one of my Picture Folders and deliberately moved them out of the order in which they were.
I can always put them back into whatever sequence I require them.

Once you have got all the photographs which you require in a folder You should then be able to drag them all into the order which you require...Click onto and drag the one which you wish to have as No.1 and place it after the last one in your folder. Then do the same with the one which you want as No.2 and so on and on...Putting each one into the last position and thereby obtaining the order which you require.

I hope I have explained what certainly works for me.

Thanks for your answer guys. Ron that is what I woudl love to be able to do but they seem locked in the order. There must be something I need to click on to get them to move about freely. I will keep looking.
If you view in 'details' view, then you should be able to sort on any of the columns by clicking on the title. Date or size or whatever.

However if you want them in some kind of random order that happens to please you, then that's more difficult to suggest something for. Best I can do is to suggest a rename, adding a numeric value to the start of the filename.
lauralane.....I can now fully understand your problem. It's no wonder that you are unable to rearrange photographs by dragging them within a file. Other Window7 users have the very same problem.

Ron.
Just use a numbering sequence as I said above ... Then a slideshow will work ok for you.
It's all about a slideshow ?

It seems to me you want to get old of a slideshow application that allows you to dictate the order, rather than worry about how the files appear when you look in the directory.
Yes, as said above; open folder, open file, click on 'Rename this file' and add 1,2,3,4 etc. before each title
"add 1,2,3,4 etc. before each title"

No, do as Al said and add 001 002 003 etc etc.... otherwise it doesn't sort properly.
Just wish some folk would listen : )
Well unless you want them sorted...
