Keyboard not Typing

The cursor on my laptop is fine but the keyboard is not working. Is there any routine things i should try before i put it in for repair ?

If it is wireless have you changed the batteries in the keyboard

What a dunderhead- missed that bit- hangs his head in shame
You can try plugging a keyboard into it. The whole keyboard doesn't usually go bad at once. There is a ribbon cable on the inside that can come loose, but its not common. There is a keyboard device under the device manager, try deleting it (it will come back when you reboot). Sometimes Function lock gets turned on and only some keyboard items will work, so make sure its all the keys.
