Each time I turn on my Dell laptop it tells me to wait while it configures Windows updares. Then it says Configuring Windows Updates 0% complete. Do not turn off your computer.
Afte aiting about 5 minutes the computer starts up normally but at no time does the percentage figure go above 0%. Any ideas what causes this or what I can do about it?
I am running Windows 7 Home Premium.

It's not successfully completing the reconfigration

On my computer (PC, not laptop) it eventually did so on the 4th or 5th startup

No idea what you can do about it.
Try, Control panel, find and fix problems, scroll down to find and fix problems with Windows update, might help?
I'm no expert though.
Open your start panel type troubleshooting into the search bar and open troubleshooting . Scroll down to fix problems with Windows Update and click on that. Click to Repair and let it do the checks and repair any faults .Click ok to close. This should fix your problem
